Kila Tore

Dear families of Bougainville,

It is with great pleasure and kind of mixed feelings to come to this page. I don’t really know how I come to this page, what I was doing on my computer, but surely enough a missing puzzle to complete a life’s history. I will never forget but treasure as long as I live. My name is Kila Tore from 1968/9 to 1989. Have worked as camp assistant, Camp manager, Personnel officer and HR/Personnel Supervisor. Bougainville crisis that cut short my employment career with BCL. Worked in location like Kobuan Camp, Pink Palace, B60, Loh 6 and Arawa Maintenance and lived in Arawa Township.

Many emails I have just read brought back the memories of Bougainville BCPL & BCL days. Yes, we had a little family of our own, just like a little heaven on earth.

The company itself was the first mine and taught lot things that are happening today. I for one have come up in ranks. I did helped John Davidson established JDA office in Port Moresby now known as “Wokman”, left JDA to work for Chevron New Guinea and than with Clough New Guinea as the HR man in charge of recruiting and later with InterOil Corporation, Upstream as Exploration and Drilling Coordinator, the position I now holds today.

I knew most of you all as I read through taking my time. Yes, most PNG personal, some have kicked the bucket, most have gone home to village life, some became businessman and many other became top shot in all walks of life. Yes, it’s a small world for us and sometimes cross roads in many places.

Like today is my lucky day, I have come across to you all. My heart is with you all and a journey that waits for all.

May you all have a happy day and stay safe in where ever and what ever you’re doing.
