Ian Robinson
My name is Ian Robinson, I was in the first crew with Thiess Bros who
went to Bougainville from Talbingo as a chippie, in late 1969 setting
up the arawa camp.Iworked on Arawa, at Panguna township untill 1971,
with Dave Devenport as Project Manager, then again at Camp 5 on the
mine access road redevelopment untill 1972 with Darren Hicthings
Project Manager also for Thiess.
Some of the guys I remember from the first job work Ray Wiess ,Peter
ireland ,Terry Lee,Brian Mills, Bob Sutton, Martin Brooks, Pat
Crimmins, Franz shuer "the Austiran Prince",Frank the Welder,Honk
Williams,Bill Collis,Robbie Anderson,Rex Carter,DellSarr from becktel
2nd Contract, George Kennedy, Campbell Snook (becktel),Barry Oxford,
to name a few, Iwent back to Bougaivile in late 72to have alook again.

Today I live In Hastings Victoria. Have att afew photos from my time
there, i hope it jogs afew brains. I,m the one getting the hair
cut,setting up camp arawa, and starting the drainage in the the
township.
